LD Lawn Care's Comprehensive 8-Step Lawn Health Program
LD Lawn Care's Comprehensive 8-Step Lawn Health Program
Below is an outline of our specially designed lawn health program. This program begins in mid-late February and progresses at 4-6 week intervals between treatments. While the ideal situation would be to begin treatments with step 1, it's never a bad time of year to start focusing on the health of your lawn. Feel free to contact us at any time of the year for a free analysis and consultation. We would love the opportunity to give you a lawn that you can be proud of and enjoy to the fullest.

Step 1
Step 1
Pre-Emergent/Fertilizer
Pre-Emergent/Fertilizer
Step 1 includes an early spring-late winter granular pre-emergence plus fertilizer application. Pre-emergence helps prevent weeds from germinating during their growing season. This granular fertilizer application will help the turf green up quickly and maintain thickness to choke out weeds.
Step 2
Step 2
Fertilizer/Liquid Air-8/Humic + Weed Control
Fertilizer/Liquid Air-8/Humic + Weed Control
Step 2 includes an early spring granular fertilizer, RGS, and humic application plus weed control treatment. Fertilizer will help keep the turf green and thick while the Liquid Air-8 helps loosen the topsoil to promote healthier, deeper root growth. Humic acid works in the soil to enhance its water infiltration capabilities and water holding capacity. Weeds are treated with a selective post-emergence herbicide.
Step 3
Step 3
Fertilizer/RGS + Weed Control
Fertilizer/RGS + Weed Control
Step 3 includes a mid-late spring fertilizer and RGS application plus weed control treatment. Fertilizer will help keep the turf green and thick while the RGS (Root Growth Stimulator) will provide the turf with additional nutrients that help promote root growth. Weeds are treated with a selective post-emergence herbicide to eradicate any pests that may have popped up between treatments.
Step 4
Step 4
Fertilizer/Liquid D-Thatch/Humic + Spot-Treat Weeds
Fertilizer/Liquid D-Thatch/Humic + Spot-Treat Weeds
Step 4 includes an early summer fertilizer application that utilizes both fast & slow release products at lower rates to prevent turf stress/damage during the warmer summer months. Humic acid works in the soil to enhance its water infiltration capabilities and water holding capacity. This application also includes liquid D-Thatch which helps break down built up thatch in the lawn that can prevent nutrients from reaching the soil. Visible weeds are treated with a selective herbicide on an as needed basis utilizing spot-treatments.
Step 5
Step 5
Fertilizer (Fast & Slow)/Liquid D-Thatch + Spot-Treat Weeds

This application also includes liquid D-Thatch which helps break down built up thatch in the lawn that can prevent nutrients from reaching the soil. Visible weeds are treated with a selective herbicide on an as needed basis.
Step 6
Step 6
Fertilizer/RGS/Humic + Spot-Treat Weeds & Grub/Insect Control
Fertilizer/RGS/Humic + Spot-Treat Weeds & Grub/Insect Control
Step 6 includes a late summer/early fall fertilizer and RGS application plus spot treatment of any visible weeds. Fertilizer will help keep the turf green and thick while the RGS (Root Growth Stimulator) will provide the turf with additional nutrients that help promote root growth. Humic acid works in the soil to enhance its water infiltration capabilities and water holding capacity. Visible weeds are treated with a selective herbicide on an as needed basis. This is also the crucial point in the year where a grub control product is applied. Grubs cause great amounts of damage to lawns by feeding on turf roots. They also attract other destructive pests that feed on them by digging up and/or tunneling through the topsoil and turf.
Step 7
Step 7
Fertilizer/Liquid Air-8 + Weed Control
Fertilizer/Liquid Air-8 + Weed Control
Step 7 includes a mid-late fall granular fertilizer and liquid Air-8 application plus spot treatment of any visible weeds. Fertilizer will help keep the turf green and thick while the liquid Air-8 helps loosen the soil to promote broad, deep root growth. This granular fertilizer provides nutrients over a longer period of time, assisting the turf in winding down and preparing for colder months. Weeds will be treated with a blanket application of a selective post-emergence herbicide.
Step 8
Step 8
Pre-Emergence/Fertilizer + Spot-Treat Weeds
Pre-Emergence/Fertilizer + Spot-Treat Weeds
Step 8 includes a late fall pre-emergence plus fertilizer application. This pre-emergence application will help prevent winter weeds from germinating while the slow release granular fertilizer maintains a hardy, healthy, and green turf during the colder months. Visible weeds are treated with a selective herbicide on an as needed basis.
